 In the 1870 Federal Census for Jackson Township in Rappahannock
County, Virginia, John is listed as a 40 year old carpenter. His
wife Mary is 27 and six children are living at home. - The 1880 Federal Census for the Jefferson District of Culpeper,
Virginia indicates that John (50) was now a farmer and his wife Mary
(37) is keeping house with eight children at home; only Frances is
missing from the list.
- By the 1910 Federal Census John is 84, widowed, and living with
his daughter Lizzie E. James (40), her husband Judson James (38)
and their children. Judson is a farmer/carpenter. They all reside
in the Jefferson District of Culpeper, Virginia.
