- Mary and John were married December 8, 1821 in PG. [Maryland Marriages]
- In 1845 Mary inherited $500 from her father. [PG WB PC:282; MSA CR34,682]
- The 1850 Federal Census for Aquasco District listed John (52) as
a planter and his wife Mary Estep (40). Five children were at home:
Ann (17), Joanna (12), William H. (9), George L. (7), and Joseph
L. (4). Two young free black men resided with them: John Dobson (25)
and William Harper (19).
- John Estep married his second wife, Mary Jane Naylor (26), on April
26, 1856.
- The 1860 Federal Census for Aquasco in the 8th Election District
again showed that John (62) was still a planter with wife Mary J.
(30) and four children at home: William H. (20), George (18), John
(14), and James (3). Son Joseph was not listed, but John (b. 1846)
was listed instead.
- John Estep's will was probated August 23, 1870. [PG WB WAJ1:447]
